Toads

Postby Russman » Thu May 26, 2016 11:33 pm

So how long does a toad last? Apparently no less then 24 hours. These two have been talking back and fourth for about a week, the male was in my pond female under my deck, love the sound of them helps complete the whole peacefulness of sitting outside when it warm. Anyway back to it, a week of talking back and fourth and yesterday she made her way to his house and the two have been locked since then. Which by the way killed all my night songs.

Didn't know toads really went in water or lived in ponds. Never really thought about it but guess they lay tadpoles? no need for Viagra, hope the serenades come back after the romance for you.

more outdoor nature funny play: yesterday afternoon i went to a friends house to help with some outside clean up and there bedded next to the driveway was a big doe with what was her rear front leg, more or less up in the air as she bed. Upon pulling in she stayed bedded at only 15 yards, maybe less.

Limpy is a 3 year old backyard deer and an easy target during the rut and pre-rut even I'm sure. The first to get tended and retended I was told.
I'll see if I can get a pic of her....

Y'all dont have snakes? Those toads in an open pond like that in georgia would be eaten in no time.

Not many water snakes and they stay away mostly from mowed lawns.

Another couple of Limpy, the easily tagged doe...
notice how low her right shoulder blade is and for over 3 years now after being hit by a car. Look painful.
