Replace Your Own Strings? Do You Examine Your Eccentric's Tracks?

When replacing your string and cables, I strongly recommend taking a close look at your eccentrics, cam(s) and/or idler wheel's track. We recommend periodically lightly waxing even your serving (see post on how and when to properly wax string and cables), however this wax can build up in the eccentric's tracks and collect dirt and sand which can be abrasive and similar to a light grit sandpaper on your new string and cable sets. Simply take a Q-tip or cotton swab and with pressure, run along your eccentric's tracks several times until no more wax is seen. You might be surprised how much dirty waxy-build up you remove especially if your bow has a lot of shots on it and live in a dry and sandy climate, AND wax your string and cables often as you should for longevity.
