"I Take You" Marriage, You're Stuck

Postby k-villa » Thu Aug 04, 2016 3:09 pm

The best sermon I've ever heard on marriage, it is sermon 2 of 2. An oath, a promise, bound,
vows you can't get out of, you're word, better or worse:

stuck, signed sealed delivered. gloriously stuck, wonderfully stuck, durably stuck, enthusiastically stuck, legally stuck, physically stuck. I don't think stuck is the right word? You're wrong, it means glued. Just got yourself glued, and no one can un-glue it - that's the point. Radically counter-cultural.

Magazines all serial adultry",

tabliods and gossup which is not good for anyone.

Those were my dads uncle daves words spoken to him at a very conservative, Seventh Day Adventist dinner table. Just about made him choke on his meal.

Also learned years ago, those that follow a true SDA beliefs, including not drinking soda, alcohol, tobacco, etc have one of if not the highest life expediencies of all societies. My Grandpa and Grandma J were very good people, raised two foster kids as their own very well, and then a grandchild single handedly in their later years. True Christians as well.

My step dad didn't always follow the SDA rules or anyone's for that matter in life. A often silent but showing caring man, but a smart man. He even went into the army and excelled there too, which is a no no for SDA I think?
