Side by side blackwalnut and maple.
Blackwalnut is real good, great experiment, my kid likes it better than the maple. Honestly both are great will be tapping more walnuts for sure next year

What a difference some research and building a better evaporator makes. Boiled like crazy this weekend. Started in ballpark of 150ish gallons of raw sap to finish with about 2.5 gallons of real good stuff. Definitely hoping for more blackwalnut sap, only got 5 gallons in fridge and weather ain't loo...

On the home stretch for 1st round of blackwalnut syrup, this is what's left of 35 gallons of raw sap. About 3/4 of a gallon, and still only boiling at 213 degrees, 6 more to go before officially syrup. With only luck will have in ballpark of 1/2 gallon probably less, of finished product.
